The nuts themselves are processed into paints, varnishes, polishing waxes, lubricating oils, animal feeds, nitroglycerin, and insecticides. The oils of peanuts can also be saponified to make soap.

The only downside is that there is a significant portion of the population that is allergic to peanuts, some deathly so. There are theories as to how allergies like these come about, though they are not conclusive. What we do know for sure is that the peanut, especially in its shell, is an unusual and very characteristic looking thing.
